Mark 11:13 - And seeing a fig tree afar off having
leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to
it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
Jesus spotted a fig tree with leaves
and approached it expecting to find fruit. Imagine Jesus’ surprise to find a
fig tree bearing all the signs of fruit, but having only simple leaves. He
immediately rebuked the tree cursed it. Christians, we are called to bear
fruit. Our fruit is a representation of Christ to others. We need not be “leafy”
Christians, bearing the signs but no fruit. We ought to be ripe onto the
harvest.
Galatians 5:22, 23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness,
temperance: against such there is no law.
